Anatomy of a Psycho (1961)

Brotherly love. It can be a beautiful thing, but what happens when one of those brothers is a convicted murderer put to death and the other brother is so sour over it that he starts killing off everyone who’s responsible? Then, it’s not so nice. And I WISH this film were a little less nice. Here, a classic juvenile delinquent scenario that SHOULD end with a violent knife fight or a shootout in the streets instead climaxes with some dry courtroom drama and police psychology. What the hell? Meanwhile, star Darrell Howe twitches nicely as the vengeful brother while hack director Boris Petroff barely seems to notice. Petroff’s main concern here seems to be holding his camera so far back that all of the actors have about nine feet of headroom in every shot. He’s probably bragging about his ability to keep out the boom mic, but I did spot the shadow a few times, I swear.
