Supernatural thriller brain cell-killer from the very last days that home computers were considered mystical and mysterious things. It’s not very good, but it belongs in any 1990s time capsule. Crack open a can of Surge and watch Edward Furlong as your classic teen tech wiz who’s programmed his computers to do everything but comb his floppy 90s hair. His room is like a giant iPhone. In the future, he’ll likely be a billionaire, but in this movie he’s the kid who doesn’t get invited to pool parties and takes creep shot photos from his window of the neighbor girl undressing. Still, there’s only one thing that might threaten his bright future: if he starts murdering people while he THINKS he’s merely playing a trippy new virtual reality CD-ROM game. So that’s what happens. He thinks he’s going crazy and the teased-haired Goth demon who materializes out of his computer screen and calls himself The Trickster isn’t helping his mental health much. Meanwhile, police detective Frank Langella is on the case of all these new corpses turning up around town.
