The bad guy in this entertaining Dick Tracy low-budget job is Cueball, who—you guessed it—is just a mean guy with a shaved head. He’s the muscle for a couple of diamond thieves and Dick Tracy’s on his trail. The fun cast of B-movie stalwarts here includes the weasely Byron Foulger, tough blonde Rita Corday, old hag Esther Howard and, one of the great underrated creeps of 1940s flicks, Skelton Knaggs in a small role.
Campy character name role call: There’s a jewelry dealer named Jules Sparkles and an antique shop owner named Percival Priceless. This film also introduces pill-popping old queen Vitamin Flintheart, a character from Chester Gould’s comic strip, to the movie series to provide some comic relief.
