Dollman (1991)

In a performance that may or may not be a parody of Sylvester Stallone in Cobra, Tim Thomerson is perfect as a hardboiled police detective from the planet Alturus. It’s exactly like Earth, but with one huge difference: on Alturus, everything’s smaller. So, when he chases his evil arch nemesis—a guy who’s just a disembodied head attached to a floating life support machine—into outer space and flies through a dimensional portal that leads to a crash landing in New York City, he’s roughly the size of a Ken doll and all humans are giants to him. That doesn’t stop him from being thrust into the middle of some cartoonish Puerto Rican gang warfare, though.

It all adds up to some primo Full Moon Entertainment silliness. It’s entertaining, out to lunch, and weirdly ambitious in the special effects department for a straight-to-video B-movie.
