High School Big Shot (1959)

high-school-big-shotWimps. Sometimes one of them decides to do something crazy so that nobody will think he’s a wimp anymore and then heads roll.

In this depressing but entertaining poverty row-budgeted crime story/juvenile delinquent flick, the biggest nerd in school (Jandek-lookalike Tom Pittman) finds out that the prettiest girl in school (witchily sexy brunette Virginia Aldridge) was only coming on to him so he’d do her homework for her. He, still pathetically fixated on conquering that pussy, figures that a risky million dollar heist of his crooked boss’s money might be the thing to win her back. For the smartest guy around, he sure is an idiot though, and he spills the beans to her about his plans… and, of course, she goes off and tells her caveman greaser boyfriend all about it and he comes up with his own scheme to take the money.

In other words, this is The Killing or The Asphalt Jungle with teenagers and on a $25 budget.
