Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus (2009)

A 50s throwback B-movie about nature gone nutzoid. It’s called Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus, but it really should be called Oceanographers Versus the US Military because we get a lot more of that in this low-budget film than we get shark and octopus action.

Something strange is going on in the ocean. Navy vessels are disappearing. Airplanes are being eaten out of the air. Debbie Gibson is part of a small band of rogue oceanographers who think the problem is a giant shark and octopus that are thought to be extinct. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Lamas, as the head of whatever government agency allows its top officer to dress like an 80s movie druglord, is skeptical, but drags the oceanographers along for his investigation just because.

Lorenzo’s wrong. Debbie’s right. The world finds this out when Mega Shark eats the Golden Gate Bridge for lunch out of the blue one day.

The BIG question in this movie: How is Debbie Gibson holding up? Pretty good, if you ask me.
