Monster on the Campus (1958)

It’s The Attack of the Mutant Science Professor in this terrific chiller. It’s actually a 50s sci-fi variation on the old Wolf Man story, except this is about a scientist who turns into a mindless killer caveman after he’s exposed to radioactive blood from a coelacanth. That’s the creepy-looking fish famous for continuing to exist, with almost no evolutionary change, since monster-on-the-campusprehistoric times. Don’t let the campy title of this one fool ya. There are some good scares here. Like just about everything directed by the great Jack Arnold, this moves at snappy pace and keeps you engrossed. It’s the last of his horror films for Universal Studios.
