In this film noir quickie, burly William Gargan is a good cop and a horrible husband. Things get bad for him when he happens to witness a murder while he’s out cheating on his wife. He then has to spend the rest of the movie trying to solve the case without ruining his marriage by admitting that he saw it happen. The suspense zips along nicely in a mere sixty-five minutes though the plot cuts a few corners here and there. William Gargan isn’t given much more to do other than spend the film in a constant cold sweat, while Janis Carter gets the plum role as the adulteress who spits venom from behind a fetching smile.
The story was based on an episode of the long-running Night Editor radio anthology series. This was originally intended to be first of more Night Editor movies, but nothing else ever came of it.
