Razor Blade Smile (1998)

razor-bladeI’m gonna go ahead and be wacky and call this one of the best vampire movies ever (George Romero’s Martin is still THE best, though). There are so few good ones for some reason, but that shouldn’t be taken as a slight against this, where the goth angle that leads many a vampire movie to take itself too seriously is given a send-up.

Eileen Daly is an assassin for hire who likes to lurk around in skintight leather outfits. She’s also a vampire, which means she’s pretty good at her job not only because she can get shot forty-seven times and not die, but she also feeds off the blood of her targets which leaves really baffling corpses. Her latest assignment is to knock off members of an Illuminati secret society one by one. A Scotland Yard detective happens to be a member of the cult and tries to catch the assassin before she catches him. I love this kinda stuff.

This British film is stylishly shot in super grainy 16mm, which is a great look for a movie.
