Slaughter High (1986)

slaughter-highYep, it’s the old vengeful mad slasher story. Another high school nerd is out to settle the score with his tormentors. It’s years after graduation and all the old bullies go to the big class reunion, but there’s nobody there. Turns out the invitations were fake. The whole thing’s a set-up for the axe-wielding geek to turn his enemies into kibbles ‘n’ bits. A few creative deaths, like the one in a bathtub that gushes nitric acid, help make this worthwhile. It also has a good sense of humor, though the funniest thing in the film is seeing sexy Caroline Munro, who was about 35 at the time, play a teenager in a few scenes.

The original title was April Fool’s Day, but another slasher movie made at around the same time was already using it. Slaughter High is the better title anyway. The film’s April Fool’s Day references are half-assed at best.

Actor Simon Scuddamore, who plays the killer, died shortly after the shoot from what authorities determined to be a suicidal drug overdose.
