On any given night during the school year, this low-budget pothead comedy about bored, bumbling cops in Vermont is likely playing in a dorm room somewhere. The filmmakers wisely begin the movie with a group of mongoloid kids zipping down the highway toting bags of weed and mushrooms. It gives the intended audience, and much of this film’s cult, someone to whom they can relate right away. About ten minutes in, the lawmen take over as the main characters and the film drifts through a woozy series of episodes that might either make you smirk or laugh uncontrollably depending on how stoned you are. A threadbare plot about the highway patrolmen competing with local police to take credit for solving a murder pops up every now and then.
