The Pink Angels (1971)

pink-angelsMemorably weird, fried-mind hippie comedy about a gay biker gang heading down the California coast to a drag ball. Along the way the furry flamers scare hitchikers, snub flirtatious girls, fend off police harrassment, goof around in a grocery store like The Monkees, and deal with another motorcycle gang who crashes their swishy outdoor champagne picnic. Meanwhile, we also meet a military general who likes to sit in his office and listen to tapes of right-wing speeches. The general seems to have nothing at all to do with the rest of the movie until the dark, bizarre shocker of an ending. Low-budget obscurity. The biggest name here is future Grizzly Adams star Dan Haggerty playing a member of the homo-hating rival gang.
