The Video Dead (1987)

A twist on the standard zombies-on-the-loose movie. It’s not a very good twist, but there are a couple clever moments if you can make it through the rough patches. So, the zombies are here, they’re strangling people (these zombies are on vegan diets, it seems) and they materialized straight off the screen of an old haunted television set. These zombies also appreciate a nice dinner party, get freaked out by their own reflections in a mirror and writer/director Robert Scott can’t get his story straight on how to kill them. It’s a low-budget flick that’s as light on the scares as it is on the acting and writing. In its defense though, it IS the only movie I know of in which a zombie picks up a chainsaw and chases a guy with it.
