More low-budget sci-fi action with a sense of humor. This is just as fast and funny as the first Trancers. Time-traveling detective Tim Thomerson is still in present day Los Angeles and still protecting the future government by making sure The Trancers don’t kill this dumbbell retired baseball player whose descendent will be a very important person in two hundred years. Also, there’s a dollop of drama when Tim Thomerson’s dead wife from 2247 comes back, which causes a few problems because he’s married to Helen Hunt now. Since in the world of Trancers, you travel back in time by inhabiting the body of an ancestor, the wife returns in the form of 22 year old beauty Megan Ward. Tim Thomerson’s cigar-chomping boss from the previous movie also travels back to 1991 and he ends up in the body of a 15 year old girl.
So what you get here is a grizzled old man fighting the forces of evil with cute young women as his sidekicks. We’ve all dreamed about it happening to us, now see it in the movies.
