Witching and Bitching (2013)

Entertaining excess. Álex de la Iglesia’s horror-comedy about a gang of robbers who beat the retreat after a jewel heist and then wind up in the clutches of a witch coven gives us too much of everything. Too many jokes, too much noise, too much goofy violence, too many cliches, too much sugar, too much salt. The only thing it’s short on is logic, which is the least essential ingredient in trash, anyway. De la Iglesia tarts up this freak show like a drag queen who wears a pound of make-up and too many spangles. He loves every tasteless flourish and it’s infectious. If it doesn’t give you a headache, at least.
