Young and Wild (1958)

I yelled at the screen at least five times during this juvenile delinquent/police procedural quickie. It’s about a wholesome young couple who become a random target for the wrath of some switchblade-and-pomade creeps lead by a perfectly greasy Scott Marlowe. Naturally, the bad guys are dumb as hubcaps, but their victims here are somehow even dumber. Once the heat turns on, these two cardigan-sporting cupcakes proceed to make nothing but the worst possible decisions that only put them in MORE danger. This ain’t all bad, though. A great Gene Evans saves the movie as the grizzled police detective who knows full well that he’s dealing with idiots, from all sides, the whole time.
