Bad Channels (1992)

Nutball alien invasion flick set to a throbbing heavy metal score by Blue Oyster Cult. The alien here is some big lug with a giant head that looks like volcanic rock. It lands in a tiny desert town and takes over the local radio station. From there, it somehow uses the radio signal to hypnotize some of the town’s prettiest women and make ’em suddenly start dancing around like Tawny Kitaen in a Whitesnake video before they get teleported into the alien’s clutches.

It’s some quintessential Full Moon Entertainment camp, complete with shrunken people and colorful lighting schemes. Some of the highlights include the weird music video sequences and original MTV VJ Martha Quinn starring as a feisty journalist. And be sure to watch through the closing credits to catch Tim Thomerson’s cameo as Brick Bardo from Dollman. Ted Nicolaou directs and the story is kind of a sideways variation on a movie he made in 1986 called TerrorVision, in which an alien manages to inhabit a satellite TV signal.
